Unawatuna is a prominent tourist destination in Sri Lanka. Tourists on vacation choose to spend their time in the southern portion of Sri Lanka, owing to the country's most stunning beaches. Unawatuna is a great place to spend a few days because it's only around an hour's drive from the capital city of Colombo. The town itself is modest, yet it features superb shops, guesthouses, fashionable restaurants, and a variety of neighboring activities and sightseeing. Discover the greatest things to do in Unawatuna.
Beach of Unawatuna
Unawatuna's main beach is popular with both visitors and residents. The long, wide beaches provide excellent swimming opportunities, and a section of the beach is reserved for rentable loungers. A short walk from the beach's western end leads to a pagoda statue with a view of the bay.The beach is directly connected to the city center, and there are numerous small restaurants and bars. Even after sunset, there's a terrific beach atmosphere going on.
Beach Wijaya (Beach Swing)
The beach swing at Wijaya Beach is without a doubt Sri Lanka's most Instagrammed location. It's not exactly on Wijaya Beach, but it's close by. Google Maps search for Dream Cabana, Unawatuna. This is the precise location. Please do us a favor and say hello to the nice gentlemen over there.
Unawatuna Jungle Beach
Jungle Beach is located on the other side of the main beach. It's a little hidden, so it's much quieter than the main beach. It is not as accessible as Unawatuna Beach, but it is well worth a visit if you have the time. It's around a 10-15 minute drive from Unawatuna's town center.
Visit the Galle Fort.
Galle Fort is a unique experience in Sri Lanka. This magnificent medieval fort is not loaded with conventional Sri Lankan architecture, but rather with Dutch, Portuguese, and British influences. Galle Fort features a plethora of ideal gift shops as well as stunning architecture. We like to spend a day wandering about here and watching the sunset from the top of the fort wall.
Surfing versus Standup Paddleboarding
Are you ready to jump in? A decent beach for learning to surf is located between Unawatuna and Galle. It should be noted that the greatest time to go surfing is between November and May. You can rent a board and even take lessons at Ahikava Surfschool. Grab a paddleboard around sunset, relax, and take in the scenery.
